After their South East Business Boost application was approved James and Sam Oakley, the owners of Weavering Developments Ltd, wasted no time in going out and purchasing their new truck!
The new truck enables the team at Weavering to split up and take on twice as many jobs! Given that they simply couldn’t cope with the demand for their re-development and building works this was a great opportunity for the company to grow.
We asked James to tell us how he heard of the South East Business Boost grant scheme and the process he had to go through to get it…
“We heard about the grant through a friend at my little boys’ school. She said that it was effectively free money as we didn’t have to pay it back. I was a bit suspicious about it and thought that there must be a catch somewhere. I called Kent County Council though and asked about it! They were helpful, explained the process and helped us fill out the forms. I spoke to my accountant and got the information they needed, shopped around and got three quotes for the new vehicle submitted our application and we got approved!”
“One the same day we were approved I called the garage with the truck we’d chosen and bought it. I then filled out the paperwork I’d been sent and got the money credited to me. I think we applied in July and it was all done by September.”
So, would James recommend the grant to others we asked? “Yes absolutely, and I have – it really was free money that has helped our business to grow!”
