Big businesses use much more sophisticated centrally managed anti-virus products called Endpoint Detection and Response, or EDR. We can supply you with a managed anti-virus solution called SentinelOne and ensure your computer is protected with exactly the same product that many of the big businesses rely upon. You too can have your own security team dealing with these threats remotely, in real time, from just £12 per month including VAT.

Microsoft 365 is a cloud-based product that allows you access to the full Microsoft suite of applications and services on a variety of devices. Depending on the contract you take out you will have different levels of service for different numbers of devices. Subscriptions can be purchased for home or business use, by schools or by bigger enterprise. Computer People will help you decide which package will best suit your needs. We will: Install, configure and set up your suite on all the devices you need to register to it. Support the management of email (see email services), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, cloud-based storage.

Have you heard of DNS? A lot of people have but don’t have a clue what it is! It stands for Domain Name System and is basically the phonebook of the Internet. If you have a business website, the name of that site is your domain name. But not everyone has an email to match – and if they do, it isn’t always set up in the most optimal way. We can host, configure and maintain DNS services for your email systems as your company grows. It involves a few different elements that you can pick and choose from. Set up email addresses (domain names): This is usually based on your company name and is far more professional than having a Google address, especially if you haven’t yet got a website sorted out. For example, you might have ‘Bestwindowscompanykent@google.com’. Consider how that might look to someone comparing you to ‘info@secondbestwindowcompanykent.com’. Who would you be most likely to choose? The one who invested in a ‘proper’ email address, or the Google guy who says he’s the best in Kent? Why not have hello@ Bestwindowscompanykent.com’? Far more professional and genuine. We can set that up for you. We can let you know if a particular name is available, suggest an alternative if it isn’t and set it up so that email flows correctly and people can locate you on the internet. And it gives you a bump start on your website too. Changing your email addresses: We realise some companies do have a website but choose not to have the email services and set up their email addresses in something like Google or Hotmail. For the very same reasons we just mentioned above, we can set up your email address to match your web address using Microsoft Exchange or other email packages. This will also make your email and calendar management far more streamlined and efficient. Replace your webmail email service with Microsoft Exchange: Another issue some companies find is that when they set up their business website they choose hosted webmail services to run their email. This has the same address as your website but can be problematic, especially as your business grows. Calendars can only sync on one machine, there might be problems with out of office and adding numbers of users. We can address this for you even if your web services are managed elsewhere. Security certificate setup for emails: SSL certificates are generally thought of in terms of website security, but you can get similar certificates for emails. These are known as S/MIME email certificates. We can help you purchase and set up these certificates for your emails so you and your clients can be assured that emails are being sent securely.
remote monitoring, support & repair contract
Offering a remote access and support package which allows us to fix most software problems without having to come and see you, in turn saving you time and money. When you agree to our remote support contract, we will audit your existing infrastructure and run a health-check on all computers that need to be monitored and managed. We will vacuum clean the insides of any desktop computer and document the hardware configuration. The machines will also be checked for the presence of any malware (which will be removed if found). Once we have added your estate to our management platform, we will ensure that all machines are ‘patched’ appropriately (we’ll undertake a set of changes in the background) to ensure they are performing at their best. A support contract provides: 24×7 proactive remote monitoring to keep systems up and running Asset tracking Automated monitoring Patch management Remote access This will be supported by a 2-hour response to phone calls between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday, excluding Bank holidays. Where onsite support is required, this will be provided within 8 working hours of any call being received.
