Book Now For September Training Events with the HR Dept

Our HR Dept colleagues in the South London office are running the below seminars. If you are interested in attending or perhaps sending one of your colleagues to one of these seminars, please contact simon.morgan@hrdept.co.uk quoting SMB and we can book it for you.

Recruiting Staff - 11th September - Beckenham
People are the key assets of every business and getting recruitment right is often instrumental to the success of a business. The aim of this workshop is to help you use this crucial step effectively to get the right people for your business. You will learn how to understand and evaluate your vacancy and consider which selection methods to use. We will also cover interview techniques and how to make the right decision, appoint and onboard your New Starter.

Managing Absence - 18th September - Sutton
Ever wondered how much absence is costing your business each year? Have you struggled to manage an absent employee, whether long or short term? In this informative and interactive workshop, we will look at the tools we have available for both the management and prevention of sickness absence. These will range from clear absence reporting procedures, sickness documentation, return to work interviews and managing within the law. Utilising practical skills and case examples, covering both short and long-term absence, you will leave the workshop with tips and actions you can put into practice as soon as you step back into the workplace.

Free Seminar - 25th September - The Warren, Hayes, BR2 7AL
The HR Dept presents: Business Reorganisation and Redundancy - How to effectively manage these changes in your business.

One thing in business is sure, there will always be change. During our seminar we will help you manoeuvre the employment law minefield when it comes to implementing changes in your business. We will be talking you through restructures, reorganisations and redundancies.

Some of the topics will include:

· Key considerations when planning a reorganisation
· What to do when a restructure leads to a redundancy
· Individual and collective redundancy - the do's and don'ts
· Consultation and how to make it truly meaningful
· The survivors - how not to overlook the people whose roles were safe
With Employment Law currently a little on the quiet side, Helen Colechin will talk about social media and your business reputation, sharing some interesting cases with fair or unfair dismissal rulings plus some practical steps for maintaining a good reputation. Finally, Kirk Thompson from the Health & Safety Dept will discuss DSE assessments and what you need to know as an employer to comply with the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations.
